| The Contemporary Montessori Education (C.M.E.) programs prepare individuals to teach children according to the principles of the Montessori Method. Separate courses of study are offered for the Preschool and the Elementary Levels. Candidates must be sponsored by Montessori schools and complete a nine month student internship under the guidance of a certified, experienced Montessori guide. Courses are also open to those who wish to establish their own Montessori school. C.M.E. certification is granted upon completion of all requirements. INDEPENDENT STUDY After a student is accepted in the C.M. E. program, a guideline for research papers will be sent. All written papers must be completed prior to taking the final exams. INTERNSHIP The C.M.E. student is required to work as an assistant under the guidance of a certified, experienced Montessori teacher at the site of the sponsoring school.The internship must take place in an appropriately equipped Montessori classroom with children of the ages corresponding to the course level being studied. The minimum period of internship is the equivalent of one academic year (nine months.) INTENSIVE SUMMER THEORY CLASSES Intensive six week sessions of study are offered at the campus of The Albanesi Educational Center in Dallas, Texas. The summer courses include demonstrations on the use of the Montessori materials, discussions concerning the application of Montessori principles to class management, and interactive student practice time. Students seeking certification are required to have satisfactorily completed all research papers, internship requirements, and theory classes before sitting for the final exam at the end of the summer session.
