The Classified Nomenclature of Geometry was originally designed by Dr. Montessori. It consists of picture cards, definition cards, and labels to match. Both the picture cards and the definition cards measure 5.5” x 5.5” (14cm x 14cm). The labels (5.5”x1”) are printed in red. Pictures, definitions, and labels require
no lamination. The entire Classified Nomenclature consists of 32 series, each of which is stored in a colored-coded plastic pocket.

In the Montessori elementary training programs, Dr. Montessori gave her student-teachers the guidelines of a logical and sequential plan for the study of geometry. In her method, each lesson is first given with concrete presentations. The child uses the appropriate equipment and may repeat sensorially each demonstration to his own satisfaction until the passage from concrete to abstract occurs effortlessly. With The Classified Nomenclature of Geometry, students recognize the concepts previously expressed with the concrete materials and continue the study of definitions in the abstract.
